In 1881 Lebeus E. Smith, Putnam?? first Mayor established the business. In 1918 Leon N. Walker joined the business and became a partner in 1919. In 1936 Mr. Walker became the sole owner. In 1960 the Smith and Walker Funeral Home merged with the L.A. Robinson Funeral Home, operated by Mr. Robinson and Mr. Earl Gagnon, which resided at our current location on Grove Street. In 1991 Mr. Steven W. Farner purchased the business, where he resides as sole owner. In 2009 Andrew S. Farner and Timothy G. Farner joined the business and became Owners and Operators of the Funeral Home in 2016. The Farner Family has been caring for their community for over 45 years and Smith and Walker Funeral Home has been entrusted in the community for over 144 years.
